Looong Distance Invitational Rough-H₂O Swim

In 1981 when we had finished the first Looong Distance Swim under the direction of founder and race director Jim Anderson, we were so proud of ourselves at accomplishing what we thought was a good job. That was until the next day when we discovered that we had completely forgotten about getting pictures of the event. Something we corrected in the pursuing  years.PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE FOLLOWING:
All pictures have been taken by non-professional volunteers. The objective given to the photographer was to get a pre-race candid picture, a finishing shot and each age group awards ceremony.In the beginning before the modern age there were only cameras with something called film.
The number of pictures taken in the early years is most likely directly tied to the number of rolls of film the photographer had with him on race day.Some of the photos are over 30 years old and while they have been stored in an archival environment pictures do fade over time. The changing lighting conditions (clouds, facing / not facing the ocean) presented by mother nature and not having sophisticated equipment to measure and change camera settings is a direct result of the quality(brightness) of what is presented here.At the end of the official picture gallery there may be a few pictures that were donated by other photographers.
